About Velocity by Design

 

Hi, I’m Agata. I’ve spent nearly two decades doing, teaching, and/or leading marketing at high-growth companies. I started Velocity by Design to share what I’ve learned along the way, with the goal of helping founders and go-to-market leaders at SaaS startups figure out how to accelerate their growth in a deliberate, impactful, and meaningful way.

My experience includes pre-revenue as well as valuations well north of $1B, but I’ve spent most of my time with SaaS startups navigating the path from $1M to $100M. I’ve been part of two IPOs (TTGT and CARB); two nine-figure investments in profitable companies (Campaign Monitor and Klaviyo); and several 10x growth curves. 

I’ve done both B2B and B2C marketing at agencies, media outlets, or software companies. I’ve been responsible for global and regional go-to-market and have built and managed co-located and distributed teams. And though most of my career has been based in the U.S., I did spend a few years living overseas in Australia. My career started in product management, morphed into product marketing, and continued to evolve from there until I began leading marketing for SaaS startups in 2013. My sweet spot is helping SaaS businesses who are selling to founders, marketers, designers, or engineers at entrepreneurial businesses. One thing I don’t have experience with is enterprise sales. If your target market is a small number of very large businesses, my expertise won’t be very applicable. But I have a couple of colleagues I’d love to introduce you to!

If we work together it’s highly likely I may recommend things you’ve considered doing. Maybe even tried. I’ve learned that the key to growing successfully isn’t uncovering some mystical approach no one has ever heard of before. It’s focusing on the right things at the right time, and executing on them in the right way. That’s my superpower: helping you understand the what, when, and how of driving business growth.

I’m also incredibly passionate about building great teams, and setting them up to do great work. I’m not a recruiter, but I can help you with every other aspect of hiring: identifying needs, defining roles, designing and executing an effective interview process, and getting the right candidates on board. I can also help you with career development paths, first-time manager coaching, and mentoring for those in their first leadership position.

I’m fluent in rapid growth, but I’m an advocate for sustainable success. It’s possible to do both at once, but I’ll never opt for accelerating short-term results at the expense of long-term business health. 

I don’t believe in playbooks, silver bullets, or growth hacks. I do believe that maximizing growth requires a deep understanding of your customers, a sound understanding of your market, and strong leadership that supports great teams.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering: though I don’t spell it with an “h,” in English my name is pronounced “Agatha.” I usually go by that or AC, but if you’re feeling adventurous you can always try the Polish version: Ah-GAH-tah.
